Responsibilities
Responsible to support the coordination implementation and monitoring of Environmental Health and Safety EHS at designated HVDC construction site in Alberta providing support to our clients Canada Energy Transmission Power Solutions Business Unit for the entirety of the project
Promotes and protects the company's interest in its due diligence of all applicable Environmental Health and Safety EHS legislation regulations programs policies procedures and best practices
Ensures our clients and its sub-contractors meet safety requirements of the EHS Priority One Plan
Takes direction from and reports to our clients EHS Regional Manager for Energy or a designated representative
Liaises with clients or contractors Managers Coordinators JHSC Joint Health and Safety Committee if applicable regarding any issues relevant to the project
Reports to the Construction Site Manager on the performance of the Plan and provides advisory support to our client and sub-contractor line organizations to fulfill their EHS responsibilities and accountabilities
Ensures that non-conformance non-compliance issues are addressed according to existing EHS legislation policies and procedures
Schedules internal EHS audits and EHS management reviews
Reviews and provides advice in the development of Environmental Health and Safety procedures
Facilitates the completion and submittal of any required forms for injury incidents to regulatory bodies
Facilitates effective safety meetings safety inspections safety audits daily/weekly reports modified work programs for injured workers and injury incident reporting
Performs any function duty or assignment on or off site as directed by our clients EHS Regional Manager for Energy or a designated representative
Qualifications
Certification as a Safety Professional Safety Officer Licensed Journeyperson or Professional Engineer an asset
5+ years of EHS Advisory experience in industrial commercial or construction in Canada
Education in Environmental Health and Safety an asset
Industry EHS Safety certifications are highly desirable such as CSO, NCSO, CHSO
Experience in a managerial or supervisory role responsible for worker safety will be considered
Must be fluent in speaking reading and writing in the English language of Canada
Must possess excellent communication skills articulate in speaking and structuring sentences
Ability to speak in front of groups of people
Adept at conflict resolution problem solving and displays leadership
Not afraid to tackle issues and resolve them
Takes initiative in organizing work and is pro-active in managing workplace safety
A self-starter manages work demands efficiently handling multiple tasks
Has the ability to undertake and manage Environmental Health and Safety compliance conformance and governance on behalf of our client.
