For our client, a Vancouver based, alternative fuel automotive company, we are currently looking for a Fuel Systems Designer. The successful candidate's overall responsibility is to assure that fuel systems are developed with best-in-class product development cycle-times, expenses and attainment of industry leading quality, performance and cost targets. Candidate must have at least 3 years of proven experience in mechanical product design, ideally of high pressure common rail FIE. Familiarity with the complete product design and development process is a prerequisite, including DFMEA, DFM/A, Technical Profile and DVP definition. The role also requires competence in ProE Wildfire, for conceptual modelling and drafting of fully detailed prints, including complex GD&T; controlled within a PDM environment. Knowledge of appropriate manufacturing processes and material selection; together with specific expertise in FEA, hydro-mechanical simulation, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and/or electromagnetics would be highly beneficial.

BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. (MSc degree preferred.)
3+ years of experience in mechanical design and development, in diesel common Rail and/or high pressure gas fuel systems applications.
Proficiency in detailed engineering calculations including fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, static/kinematic machine design and ideally electromagnetics
Metallurgical knowledge (material and heat treatment selection)
Familiarity of design optimisation tools (e.g. Six Sigma (DFSS) / Shainin® / VAVE) and application experience
Competence in design reviews, FMEA, DFM/A, Drawing Quality and Compatibility Review (DQ&CR)
Experience of development of component and system specifications based on results of testing and analysis
Familiarity with Project Data Management (PDM) systems
Development of and management of work plans
Ownership of design project(s) - from concept to production.
Experience in working with both prototype and production component manufacturers.
Direction of/liaison with cross-functional teams
Effective working in cross-functional teams; particularly with test engineers/technicians
Good planning skills and strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Proficiency in ANSYS (FEA) as an engineering tool for structural analysis
Proficiency in AMESIM as an engineering tool for hydraulic simulation
Experience in vehicle integration or heavy duty vehicles
Experience with engine performance and emissions
